"The animation was mediocre at best and it made absolutely no sense."

Like he says in the authors comments, he was just testing what he could do. If he's just experimenting with the animation, chances are it's not going to make too much sense. He's working on another higher quality movie, so don't really judge this until he's got the new series down. THEN you can judge that.
